Camera Location Permission

Review whether Camera can collect location for future photos and videos.

Reviewed 2026-10-31 · 4,500 app labels in the database

At a glance

  • Where: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Camera
  • Changes: Future location collection by Camera
  • Limits: Changing a capture permission does not strip location from existing files or hide an address visible in the image.

Steps

  1. Inspect the Info view of a harmless existing picture so you know what location details look like.
  2. Review the Camera permission in Location Services. Choose Never if you do not want Camera to collect location.
  3. Take a new sample and inspect its details. Review existing pictures separately before sharing them.

Check the result

Check the sample you actually send, not just the library original. Also inspect the visible frame for labels, landmarks and identifying details.
