Reviewed 2026-10-31 · 4,500 app labels in the database

At a glance

  • Where: Settings → Apps → Photos → authentication control
  • Changes: Access to the Hidden and Recently Deleted collections on this device
  • Limits: It is not an independent password for each normal album and does not recall shared copies.

Steps

  1. Use an ordinary sample picture and move it into Hidden.
  2. In Photos settings, review Use Face ID, Use Touch ID or Use Passcode as offered by your device.
  3. Open Hidden from Photos and check the authentication prompt. Leave and reopen it to learn the behavior.

Check the result

Record what happens with the phone unlocked and after locking it again. If another person knows the device passcode, review whether the available fallback matches your needs.
